Meet Abu

Abu is a child we help to sponsor and support through Compassion Australia.
He lives in Kola, Bangladesh.  Kola is home to around 28,000 people.  Houses typically consist of dirt floors, wood or tin walls, and tin roofs.  The primary ethnic group and language is Bangla.
Most adults in this region work as day labourers, fishermen, or on plantations.  Average monthly wage is equivalent to $88 AUD.  There is an immense need for schools, education materials, and employment opportunities.
Abu attends the Kola Child Development Centre.  Here staff provide him with nutrition supplements, medical treatment, hygiene education, sports, special celebrations and educational materials.  The Centre also provides monthly meetings for parents and guardians - in Abu's case, his grandmother.
