The life of George Muller provides countless examples of God literally supplying daily bread. Muller started a series of orphanages in Bristol, UK. He operated with a principle of faith; trusting that God would supply their needs. The staff were instructed to never ask anyone for anything 'that the hand of the Lord may be clearly seen.' Instead Muller depending on praying and asking God.
Between the years of 1838-1846, the program was living on shoe strings. Over and over again, during this time, the orphanage lived donation to donation. Muller considered these eight years as a time of strengthening their faith.
One particularly famous example was recounted as follows:

One particularly famous example was recounted as follows:
"The children were standing waiting for breakfast.
'Children you know that we must be in time for school,' said Muller. Lifting up his hand he prayed, 'Dear Father, we thank Thee for what Thou art going to give us to eat.'
Then they all heard a knock at the door. The baker stood there.
'Mr Muller, I couldnt' sleep last night. Somehow I felt you didn't have bread fro breakfast, and the Lord wanted me to send you some. So I got up at two o'clock and baked some fresh bread, and have brought it.'
Muller thanked the baker and praised God for His care.
'Children,' he said, 'we not only have bread, but fresh bread.'
Almost immediately they heard a second kncok ont he door. Thist ime it was the milkman.
'My Muller, my milk cart has broken down outside the orphanage. I would like to give the children the cans of fresh milk so that I can empty the wagon and repair it.'
Muller thanked the milkman and the children enjoyed their breakfast."
Muller's story is an inspiring example of asking God for 'Our Daily Bread.'
